This is a 1999 VW New Beetle, automatic with just under 132000 miles. The vehicle does have a new battery installed a month ago. It was taken to a mechanic to diagnose or repair an overheating problem, hoping it was just a stuck thermostat. It was not. It is believed to have at minimum a bad head gasket. I do not want to pay to have that work performed and am too lazy to do the job myself. My loss is your gain, yadda yadda yadda. While being looked at the TCU was reset and it is in learning mode...
